IPOH: The Perak State Assembly today unanimously passed the 2025 Budget, allocating RM1.52 billion, marking the highest budget in the state’s history. The budget encompasses comprehensive plans to enhance various sectors and improve the well-being of the citizens.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Perak Supply Enactment Bill 2025 and the Perak Development Fund Enactment Bill 2025 underwent a two-day debate starting December 2, involving 45 assemblymen, with 19 representing the government bloc and 26 from the opposition. The budget was initially tabled by Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, last Friday. Themed ‘Perak Makmur, Rakyat Sejahtera’, the budget focuses on five key priorities: people’s welfare, governance of state projects, human capital and youth development, environmental sustainability, and food security.
In his winding-up speech, Saarani announced a two-month Special Financial Assistance (BKK) allowance for each State Assemblyman’s Service Centre in Perak. He clarified that while a BK
K for assemblymen could not be provided this time, a replacement of RM14,000 would be given to each service centre. Saarani expressed hope that this assistance would enable assemblymen to continue serving the people, especially during the flood season.
Saarani also emphasized his commitment to ensuring that all levels of society, including those in government and opposition areas, benefit from the allocated funds. He acknowledged the need for improvement in the allocation distribution process and tasked the Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) with preparing specific guidelines to ensure a more organized and systematic allocation of funds to both government and opposition areas in the coming year.
