Perak: A total of 53 cases of failing to display the pink-coloured price tags and other price tags, involving a compound value of RM5,500, were detected during the implementation period of the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Perak Ministry of Domestic Trade and Living Costs (KPDN) director Datuk Kamalludin Ismail reported that the offences were identified through 520 inspections on retail, wholesale, and manufacturing premises across the state from March 24 to April 7. Kamalludin stated that the monitoring and enforcement by KPDN, along with public feedback, ensured the smooth and successful implementation of the SHMMP for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2025. He noted that there were no official complaints from the public regarding sales exceeding the set prices during this period.
Kamalludin elaborated that from January to April 16, Perak KPDN conducted 37,147 inspections and operations at business premises, resulting in action on 503 cases under various acts. Compounds amounting to RM287,650 were issued to traders for various offences. The total value of confiscated goods exceeded RM1 million, with KPDN recording more than 698 public complaints.
He detailed the nature of complaints received, which included more than 268 related to prices, 97 for online transactions, 96 concerning controlled goods, 71 for misleading services, 40 regarding vehicle workshops, and 126 other complaints. Kamalludin credited the success of the state KPDN operations to public cooperation, emphasizing the role of platforms like TikTok in providing valuable information about trader misconduct.
