Sungai siput: The Perak government has sanctioned an allocation of RM250,000 to enhance road infrastructure in five Orang Asli villages within the Sungai Siput parliamentary area.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Tourism, Industry, Investment and Corridor Development Committee chairman Loh Sze Yee announced that the villages benefiting from this allocation are Kampung Lawai, Kampung Pisang, Kampung Langkor, Kampung Landap, and Kampung Asap. The funds were approved through a special provision from the Perak Menteri Besar's Office. The process is currently in the documentation and tender preparation stage, with completion of the road upgrades anticipated by the end of the year.
Loh explained that the decision to undertake these improvements was prompted by repeated road damage experienced by the villagers, attributed to adverse weather conditions and land subsidence. This was revealed to reporters during the Sungai Siput Heritage Music Vibes Festival, which he officiated as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
The festival, which began on Friday and concludes tomorrow, is expected to draw around 20,000 visitors from across the state. It features over 80 sales booths and a variety of activities, including traditional cultural performances and modern attractions like fire shows. The event is part of the National Month celebrations, combining traditional and modern elements to engage young people and promote cultural heritage and racial unity.
