Penang:Penang is set to host the PENtastic Startup Month 2026 in November, bringing together a variety of activities related to startups, entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation under one cohesive platform.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, State Infrastructure, Transport and Digital Committee chairman Zairil Khir Johari announced that the initiative, led by Digital Penang, has engaged 21 participants to organize 30 confirmed activities. The Penang startup ecosystem, the second largest in Malaysia, consists of 354 companies contributing over RM340 million in revenue and providing 2,600 high-income jobs in the region.
Zairil highlighted that PENtastic was created to unify programs from diverse organizations under a single platform rather than establishing another standalone conference. Participants include founders and startups from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore, alongside corporate trainers, universities, and associations.
The activities will span various sectors such as artificial intelligence, digital business transformation, startup financing, investment readiness, marketing, talent development, sustainability, business strategy, and creative entrepreneurship. Notable events include the Startup Venture Vibes 2026 on November 19, organized by the Malaysian Business Angel Network in collaboration with Digital Penang, as well as the Creative Content AI One-Person Company Showcase and the Culture of Startups Photography Exhibition.
Zairil noted that the PENtastic Startup Month supports the Penang Digital Economy Master Plan 2025-2030 and Penang2030 Vision by linking startups and businesses with necessary programs, expertise, and community support to foster growth. The initiative aims to strengthen collaborations beyond the event, with relationships built during the month expected to yield further opportunities for entrepreneurs, startups, and businesses throughout Penang.
He emphasized that the success of PENtastic should be evaluated not just by the number of programs conducted, but by the connections made, knowledge exchanged, and opportunities developed beyond the campaign.
