A Penang Sukma rugby player died after collapsing during a training session at the General Operations Force (GOF) Battalion 2 football field here yesterday. Kulim deputy police chief DSP Tengku Mohd Faisal Tengku Yeng reported that Muhammad Adam Putra Syahril, 21, collapsed and lost consciousness while training was underway at about 5.30 pm.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the student of a higher learning institution in Perlis received initial assistance from his coach before being rushed by ambulance to Kulim Hospital. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead by a medical officer at the hospital's emergency unit.
The body was later sent to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar, and the incident has been classified as a sudden death case. It is understood that the rugby player, who hailed from Kulim, was undergoing practical training in the district and had no known history of illness.
