Penang PH Machinery Told To Gear Up For Next General Election

Penang: The Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) machinery has been asked to begin early preparations for the next general election (GE). Penang PH Leadership Council chairman Chow Kon Yeow stated that the coalition's current focus is on internal strengthening, including restructuring party machinery, work strategies, and organisational enhancement at all levels.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chow emphasized the need for early preparations, noting that time will pass quickly. He highlighted the coalition's mission to defend the government at both the state and federal levels, a task he described as a heavy responsibility. The decision to commence early preparations was made in a meeting in early February, independent of any current political factors involving other parties.

Chow delivered his remarks during the Penang PKR Chinese New Year MADANI Open House at Wisma PKR, Bayan Baru. The event was attended by prominent figures such as PKR Wanita chief and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, State Leadership Council chairman Datuk Mohamad Abdul Hamid, who is also Deputy Chief Minister I, along with other members of the state party leadership.

Chow, who also serves as Penang's Chief Minister, identified 2026 as a critical period for strengthening the party and enhancing the government's administrative performance. He urged for immediate action to ensure that by the time the election arrives, the party can demonstrate a convincing administrative track record to the public.

During a subsequent press conference, Chow mentioned that the decision on whether the GE and state election would be held simultaneously lies with the central leadership, and Penang PH would comply with any decision made.
