Penang: The Penang Road Transport Department (JPJ) seized 11 luxury vehicles, including a Lamborghini Huracan estimated to be worth over RM1 million, during 'Operation Luxury' conducted at several locations in the state on September 3.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, all the vehicles were seized after being found to have committed offences involving expired Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and lacking valid insurance coverage. This is estimated to have caused government revenue losses exceeding RM20,000 due to the failure to renew road taxes.

"Among the most eye-catching items in the seizure was a Lamborghini Huracan, estimated to be worth over RM1 million, and upon inspection, it was found that the high-powered vehicle had an expired road tax since June. The annual LKM value for high-spec luxury vehicles like Lamborghinis can reach RM12,000," it said in a statement posted on Facebook today.

The statement highlighted that the value or status of a vehicle is not a ticket for its owner to violate regulations. Enforcement actions under the Road Transport Act 1987 will be carried out transparently and without compromise, including for luxury vehicle owners.

The Penang JPJ also reminds all vehicle owners, especially those who can afford luxury vehicles, not to take lightly the obligation to renew their road tax and ensure that their insurance coverage is always valid.
