Penang DOE Investigates Suspected Pollution Near Floating Mosque.

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Department of Environment (DOE) is investigating a suspected pollution incident in the waters near the Floating Mosque in Tanjung Bungah, here. Its director Norazizi Adinan stated that the department has engaged the State Fisheries Department and the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) to probe the matter further after images depicting brown streaks in the waters circulated widely on social media.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Norazizi suggested that the issue might involve sabotage or intentional pollution, given its occurrence in a prominently visible location. Meanwhile, Penang Fisheries Department director Zarina Zainuddin mentioned that her department had not yet received any information regarding the incident. Zarina noted, “I was just informed of the matter and have not received any updates. We will investigate further.”
