Penang Chosen to Host Malaysia Day 2025 Celebration: State Government Ensures Full Support

Penang: The Penang government is expressing gratitude for being selected as the host for the Malaysia Day celebration at the PICCA @ Arena Butterworth Convention Centre on September 16, 2025. Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow affirmed the state’s commitment to work closely with the Federal Government to ensure the event’s success.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Chief Minister Chow conveyed his appreciation to the Federal Government for their decision to rotate Malaysia Day celebrations among Sabah, Sarawak, and the states in Peninsular Malaysia. He emphasized Penang’s eagerness and preparedness to host the event, highlighting that the state government is actively participating in the organizing committee to ensure the national event’s success.

The Chief Minister announced that Penang is well-prepared for the celebration through the establishment of a main committee and a working committee, alongside 16 sub-committees tasked with various preparatory aspects. He expressed confidence in the committees’ ability to effectively prepare for the event by the set date.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who met with Chow during a two-day working trip to Penang, confirmed the venue for the event and stated that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the Malaysia Day 2025 Celebration. The meeting also saw the participation of key officials, including Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and Penang state secretary Datuk Zulkifli Long.
