KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has addressed viral social media claims accusing them of neglecting an investigation into a land title document forgery case in Kedah.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, the director of Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID), refuted the allegations, which surfaced on TikTok under the account ‘Abuismailabuyaziz’, as unfounded and defamatory. He stated that a police report was lodged on November 1, 2021, in Kuala Kedah, prompting an investigation under Section 468 of the Penal Code.
Ramli explained that the disputed document and the complainant’s signature sample were submitted to the Chemistry Department for analysis. However, the department could not make a comparison due to insufficient samples provided by the complainant, who also did not submit additional required samples. Consequently, the investigation paper was referred to the Kedah Deputy Public Prosecutor, who decided on April 20, 2022, to close the
case with a ‘no further action’ (NFA) ruling.
He further mentioned that a new report was received on September 15, alleging the forgery of court order documents. Upon review, the court confirmed the legitimacy of the disputed court order, proving the TikTok claim of forgery as false and harmful. The police strongly denied the accusation of not investigating the report filed by the complainant.
Ramli underscored that the investigation followed legal protocols, with the decision to close the case made by the Attorney-General’s Chambers based on document analysis and findings. He urged the public to avoid making judgments based on inaccurate information, emphasizing that unfavorable decisions should not lead to labeling investigative authorities unjustly.
The social media video claimed forgery involved court order documents related to a land lease dispute in Kuala Kedah.
