He shared that it was an emotional moment and the first time such a significant title was won on Merdeka Day, making the whole of Malaysia proud. The family was particularly moved and proud that Ee Wei returned home healthy and uninjured.
Tang Jie and Ee Wei made history by becoming the first Malaysian pair to be crowned mixed doubles world champions, defeating China’s Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin with a score of 21-15, 21-14 in Paris on Sunday.
