Kuala lumpur: Farmers and greenhouse operators in Cameron Highlands have been instructed to implement agricultural practices that reduce the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Pahang Sultanate issued a statement today in which the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, emphasised the importance of adopting safer, modern, and environmentally friendly farming methods. These methods are crucial to ensure the production of high-quality crops that are safe for consumption while maintaining the sustainability of the highland environment.
His Royal Highness acknowledged the contributions of the Dutch government and companies from the Netherlands, who have provided valuable expertise, technology, and innovative agricultural practices to farmers in Cameron Highlands. This collaboration aims to enhance the quality and productivity of local produce.
Al-Sultan Abdullah highlighted the potential of modern agricultural approaches, such as smart farming technology and biological control methods, in helping farmers reduce their reliance on pesticides and harmful chemicals.
Furthermore, His Royal Highness recommended that the state government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security continue to explore and introduce new methods in modern agriculture. This initiative is intended to boost the confidence of farmers in Pahang and encourage them to transition towards a more sustainable and high-tech farming system.
The statement also noted that these efforts are vital for producing higher-quality and more competitive crops. Such advancements could enable local produce to penetrate both domestic and international markets, thereby strengthening the state's agricultural sector as a significant contributor to the national economy.
