Pahang Sultan Advocates Tahfiz Education for Future Leadership and Expertise

Pahang: Sultan of Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed his belief that tahfiz education in the state holds the potential to cultivate huffaz who will evolve into future experts and leaders across strategic fields. His Royal Highness highlighted that individuals with a strong foundation in Quranic studies could excel in professions such as medicine, engineering, technology, artificial intelligence, and economics, while also emerging as national leaders to navigate an increasingly challenging and technology-driven world.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Al-Sultan Abdullah made these remarks at the 2026 Pahang State Maahad Tahfiz Excellence Award ceremony. During the event, awards were presented to 48 tahfiz students who had excelled in academics, Quran memorisation, and co-curricular activities. His Royal Highness noted that the inclusion of Pahang State Maahad Tahfiz and Pahang State Turath Maahad Tahfiz among the top three schools nationwide in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination underscores the success of the state's tahfiz education system.

The Sultan emphasized that the achievements demonstrate the state's ability to produce huffaz who excel in both religious understanding and academics. He further mentioned that his aspiration to establish the Tahfiz Institute as a leading tahfiz education institution in Malaysia has been realized. Additionally, Al-Sultan Abdullah described the establishment of Universiti Al-Quran Al-Sultan Abdullah Ahmad Shah Pahang (UNIQSAAS) as a significant advancement in strengthening the state's Islamic education ecosystem.

The university is expected to serve as a new landmark for Quran-based knowledge development and offer huffaz a comprehensive pathway to pursue higher education while maintaining their Quranic educational foundation. Al-Sultan Abdullah affirmed that this initiative would reinforce the Islamic education ecosystem in Pahang and position the state as a leader in tahfiz and Quranic studies in Malaysia.

Furthermore, the Sultan reaffirmed the state government's commitment to elevating Quranic studies at all educational levels to nurture more scholars, professionals, and leaders guided by Quranic values for the benefit of religion, the nation, and the country.
