Pahang: Pahang Barisan Nasional (BN) remains committed to maintaining the Unity Government with Pakatan Harapan (PH) until the 16th General Election (GE16), its chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said. The Pahang Menteri Besar stated that the state leadership would continue to focus on carrying out its responsibilities to safeguard the well-being of the people.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Rosdy expressed hope that the Unity Government could remain intact until GE16 during a discussion after officiating the 2026 Makmur Pahang Initiative Presentation Ceremony for the Overseas Study Assistance Cluster at Wisma Sri Pahang. In the 15th General Election (GE15), BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) each won 17 seats in the Pahang Legislative Assembly, while PH secured eight seats, totaling 42 seats in the state assembly.
On November 27, 2022, Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah consented to the formation of a state government comprising BN and PH, with Wan Rosdy appointed as Menteri Besar. Wan Rosdy also mentioned that Pahang BN is open to forming cooperation with any party in preparation for GE16.
During the event, it was announced that RM118,000 had been allocated to 118 students from institutions of higher learning to assist them in preparing for further studies in Egypt and New Zealand this month. Additionally, the Pahang state government channelled USD1,000 through Yayasan Pahang to students studying in Jordan and Morocco.
Wan Rosdy advised students to study hard, uphold Pahang's reputation, and return home with excellent achievements. He also urged them to strengthen themselves mentally and physically, acknowledging the challenges of studying abroad. The Makmur Pahang Initiative will continue to be expanded and enhanced to meet students' needs, with considerations for courses that include Islamic elements and fields of study that are relevant.
