Pahang APM Director Sets Record for Blood Donation Across 15 Cities

Accra:Pahang Pahang Civil Defence Force (APM) director Col (PA) Che Adam A Rahman has achieved a place in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for completing a blood donation mission across 15 major cities nationwide. This accomplishment was recognized under the category of First to Complete Blood Donation in All Capital Cities.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Che Adam's mission, titled My Blood Donation Trans City Infaq Darah Demi Ummah, began in 2023 and spanned 13 states and two federal territories. The initiative aims to encourage regular blood donation, focusing on young people and first-time donors.

Che Adam emphasized the campaign's goal to make blood donation a regular habit, particularly among the youth. He spoke about this objective after receiving his MBOR certificate at the National Blood Centre, an event attended by notable figures including APM Chief Commissioner Mohammad Abiddin Abd Rahman, National Blood Centre director Dr Nor Nazahah Mahmud, and MBOR official Hajar Johor.

The campaign also saw the involvement of nearly 200 APM personnel from various states and districts. Che Adam highlighted the necessity of regular blood donations to ensure adequate blood supplies, especially during festive seasons, to support surgeries, accident victims, and patients with thalassaemia and anaemia.

Dr Nor Nazahah Mahmud noted the importance of collaborations between the National Blood Centre and agencies like APM to enhance public awareness about blood donation. She suggested that representatives from government and non-governmental organizations could act as ambassadors to further promote this cause.

Currently, Malaysia's blood donation rate is 2.3 per cent, with a target to reach three per cent by 2030. Achieving this goal will require increased promotional efforts involving various organizations.
