Padang besar: The Padang Besar District police have reported a significant achievement with 13 successful cases under Op Tiris 4.0 since April 22, amounting to an estimated seizure value of RM130,031.50. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities along the Malaysia-Thailand border.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Padang Besar police chief ACP Mohd Shokri Abdullah revealed that the police also seized 10 oil tanker vehicles that had been illegally modified for misappropriation and smuggling activities. The operation further led to the confiscation of 120 litres of subsidised diesel, 40 packets of subsidised cooking oil, nine Erimin 5 pills, and 40 packets of ketum water.

In addition to the seizures, the police arrested 13 individuals to assist in the investigations, including four foreigners, with ages ranging from 30 to 55 years. Among the detainees, 11 were men. The cases are currently under investigation and fall under various legal sections, including Section 6(4) of the Road Transport Act 1987, Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961, Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1962, and Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.

ACP Mohd Shokri emphasized the police's commitment to intensifying enforcement measures to curb smuggling activities along the border. He urged the public to come forward with any information regarding smuggling activities, misappropriation of subsidised goods, or any illegal activities in the border areas, encouraging them to contact the police for assistance.
