Over 9 Million STR Recipients Eligible for mySalam Protection Scheme This Year

Kuala lumpur: A total of 9.15 million Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) recipients are eligible for benefits under the mySalam B40 National Protection Scheme based on this year's criteria. Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan announced this during Minister's Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat today, highlighting the scheme's continued support for its target group.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, since its launch in 2019 until December 31, 2025, approximately 1.88 million individuals have received payouts totaling RM1.42 billion. With a remaining fund balance of RM490.9 million as of the end of 2025, the scheme is well-positioned to continue supporting those in need.

Amir Hamzah emphasized mySalam's effectiveness in easing healthcare costs for the B40 community. Last year, nearly 300,000 individuals received benefits, with claims amounting to RM276 million, a significant increase from 190,725 recipients in 2024. As of May 2026, an estimated 123,000 recipients have received payouts totaling RM108 million, showcasing the scheme's active usage by those who need it most.

In response to a supplementary question from Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) regarding the potential extension of the scheme, Amir Hamzah stated that the matter is under review. With the remaining fund balance at approximately RM290 million after mid-year utilization, the government is considering extending mySalam for another year. He assured that the government remains committed to social protection for affected groups and will continue to refine the scheme as necessary.
