Kota Bharu:More than 400,000 job vacancies are currently available through the MYFutureJobs portal, managed by the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), to support workers potentially impacted by the conflict in West Asia. This initiative is part of the Malaysian government's efforts to mitigate potential job disruptions.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan emphasized the government's readiness to address possible job losses or non-renewal of service contracts, even though the conflict's impact on Malaysia's employment sector is minimal at present.
The government, through Perkeso, is offering assistance to workers who have lost their jobs, encouraging them to explore the MYFutureJobs portal for suitable employment opportunities. Ramanan highlighted that this platform provides a chance for workers to find jobs that might be better than their previous positions.
He made these remarks following the Investiture Ceremony for State Honours in conjunction with the 57th Birthday Celebration of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, at Istana Balai Besar.
Ramanan reassured that the employment sector in the country remains stable, with no unusual developments. However, the government is preparing for potential job losses if the conflict persists, which could affect operations in some sectors and lead to retrenchments or non-renewal of contracts.
To address these concerns, Perkeso will extend financial support to eligible workers, covering costs at varying percentages. Ramanan urged calm, noting that besides available assistance, there are numerous existing job opportunities, with priority given to Malaysians.
