Melaka: Over 400 teams have gathered for the 18th Malaysia FIRA Roboworld Cup 2025, with 1,613 participants from 439 teams competing at Politeknik Merlimau Melaka (PMM) from June 21 to 26.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr. Shamsuri Abdullah, Deputy Director-General (Planning) of the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK), stated that the championship includes 124 educational institutions from across the nation. This comprises 64 polytechnics and community colleges, 12 public and private higher education institutions, and 48 school-level teams.
Dr. Shamsuri emphasized that the event serves as a platform for showcasing creative solutions through robotic innovation projects. He highlighted the championship’s role in fostering a generation of technology creators. The event also features contests in robotics integrating artificial intelligence technology.
The competition includes nine main categories such as Simurosot, AiBot, HuroCup, and MyBot Youth, among others, covering 25 subcategories and five fringe categories. This year, international teams from Indonesia, South Korea, China, Bangladesh, India, and Sudan are participating, enhancing global cooperation in robotics.
Winners from each category will have the opportunity to represent Malaysia at the FIRA Roboworld Cup 2026 in Canada. The championship also includes various side activities like RC Air, SumoRobot, Mini RC Soccer, and the FIRA Youth Robotics Symposium 2025.
