Klebang: Over 20,000 people attended the joint family day for the Rejimen Gerak Khas 60th Anniversary Phase 2 in Klebang since yesterday, said Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. He said it showed strong public interest and support for the nation's security forces.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ab Rauf stated that the celebrations featured a range of events from family-friendly activities and elite force exhibitions to special combat demonstrations and a display of 28 Malaysian Army assets. He also mentioned that the public could take part in nine interactive events, providing a close-up experience with the nation's security forces. The opening ceremony was attended by 21st Gerup Gerak Khas (GGK) commander Maj Gen Datuk Ahmad Shuhaimi Mat Wajab.

Ab Rauf emphasized that the joint family day went beyond a mere celebration, highlighting families as the backbone of the regiment's strength, resilience, and success. He noted that under the Gerak Khas Diamond Jubilee theme: Warisan Keberanian, Legasi Kegagahan, the celebrations made history by being held outside a military camp for the first time. He added that the planned activities can foster patriotism and strengthen public trust in the forces that defend the nation.
