Masjid tanah: More than 190 former members of the Masjid Tanah UMNO division returned to the party through the "Rumah Bangsa" initiative here last night. All of them handed over their membership forms to Melaka UMNO chairman Datuk Seri Utama Ab Rauf Yusoh at the "Sireh Pulang Ke Gagang" dinner held at his residence in Kampung Pulau, Masjid Tanah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ab Rauf, who is also the Melaka Chief Minister, stated that the returnees comprised former members from various branches under the Masjid Tanah division. Ab Rauf expressed his gratitude and welcomed their return, emphasizing the importance of their reintegration into Masjid Tanah UMNO. He noted their enthusiasm to rejoin and contribute to the party machinery for the upcoming Melaka state election.

Rumah Bangsa is an UMNO unity initiative introduced by its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. It aims to unite Malays and encourage former members to rejoin the party. In the 2021 Melaka state election, Barisan Nasional secured 21 out of 28 seats. The current term of the state assembly is set to expire in December.
