Perak: A total of 1,662 vehicles were inspected in the initial two days of the 2026 Hari Raya Aidiladha Special Operation (Ops HRAA) led by the Perak Road Transport Department (JPJ). Perak JPJ Director Mohammad Yusoff Abustan reported that actions were taken against 206 vehicles for various traffic violations from the inspections carried out since the operation began.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, 510 P22 Notices were issued to offending drivers, and urine screening tests conducted on 53 drivers all returned negative results. The primary offences identified included 139 cases of no Motor Vehicle License (LKM), 119 instances of no insurance, and 103 cases of driving without a license. Additionally, two express buses were caught during an undercover operation for driving continuously in the right lane.
Mohammad Yusoff highlighted that Ops HRAA 2026, running from May 24 to 31, targets nine major traffic violations that frequently result in road accidents. These violations include speeding, running red lights, overtaking on double lines, and the use of mobile phones while driving. To ensure public transport safety, Perak JPJ is conducting bus inspections at depots from May 24 to 26 to verify that these vehicles meet safety and technical standards before passenger transport.
In a related update, Mohammad Yusoff mentioned that from January to May this year, a total of 23,287 commercial vehicles were inspected as part of the 2026 Commercial Vehicles Special Ops. Of these, 2,923 enforcement actions were taken, including the impoundment of 44 vehicles. The actions involved 6,600 cases of P22 Notices, 499 cases of Section 63(3) Notices, and 41 cases of Section 64(1) Notices. The predominant offences for commercial vehicles were driving without a vocational license (999 cases), without a Competent Driving License (CDL) (772 cases), and overloading (677 cases).
Moreover, Perak JPJ intensified its Luxury Vehicles Ops during the same period, leading to the impoundment of 60 luxury vehicles, including models like Toyota Vellfire, Toyota Alphard, and Porsche Cayenne. These vehicles were primarily impounded for offences such as expired LKM and insurance, as well as driving without a valid license. Consequently, Perak JPJ issued 199 P22 Notices and 60 cases of Section 64(1) Notices.
