Kuala Lumpur: More than 1,500 guests from various backgrounds attended the 2025 Chinese New Year open house for the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency tonight. Lembah Pantai MP and Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil remarked on the strong participation from the local community despite the unfavourable weather.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi Fadzil expressed gratitude for the turnout, noting the event’s shift in location from Taman Sri Sentosa to Bangsar. He observed that such events in Bangsar draw a truly diverse crowd, with attendees traveling from areas like Sentosa. The celebration took place at the Telawi night market site.
The event was graced by representatives from parties within the Unity Government, residents’ associations, and the Royal Malaysia Police, contributing to the festive atmosphere. Fahmi emphasized the importance of strong relationships between various agencies and associations, as these ties contribute to sustainable development.
Fahmi expressed hope that events like this would strengthen community bonds, reduce misunderstandings, and foster mutual understanding. He highlighted the opportunity for the community to celebrate occasions like Chinese New Year together.
Earlier in the evening, Fahmi participated in the traditional yee sang tossing ceremony and interacted with guests. The event also featured a variety of festive dishes, a lion dance performance, and a special show by PENTARAMA.
