Kota Tinggi: A man died, while another was seriously injured in an accident involving three vehicles at Kilometre 60 of Jalan Johor Bahru – Mersing here, last night.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kota Tinggi district police chief Supt Yusof Othman stated that his department received information about the incident, which involved a Honda Stream car, a Hino lorry, and a Toyota Hilux, at approximately 11:55 PM.

Investigations revealed that the accident is believed to have occurred when the Honda Stream, traveling from Mersing to Kota Tinggi, lost control and skidded into the path of the lorry coming from the opposite direction, before colliding with the Toyota Hilux that was trailing the lorry.

“As a result of the accident, the 34-year-old driver of the car died at the scene from serious injuries while his passenger escaped with minor injuries,” Yusof explained. “The driver of the Toyota Hilux sustained serious head injuries and is receiving treatment at the Kota Tinggi Hospital, while the lorry driver was unharmed,” he added.

Yusof mentioned that the case remains under investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
