Bangkok: National silat exponent Nur Syafiqah Hamzah created a golden moment after clinching her maiden gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games by emerging champion in the women's singles event here today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Syafiqah collected 9.960 points in the final held at the Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani, defeating Brunei's Nur Wasiqah Aziemah Rosihan who scored 9.920 points.
'Honestly, the feeling is very special because this is my first gold at the SEA Games. I have dreamed of this moment for a long time, so when it has finally become a reality, I feel extremely grateful and moved,' Syafiqah expressed when contacted.
Syafiqah further shared her satisfaction with her performance, highlighting her ability to control emotions, maintain focus, and give her best on the arena. She emphasized that this victory marks not an end, but the start of a journey towards greater challenges.
This triumph ended Malaysia's long wait in the women's singles event, last won by Suzy Sulaiman at the 2005 SEA Games in the Philippines.
