Kuala lumpur: The National Sports Institute (NSI) said that every decision related to the management of supplements and sports science support for national athletes is made based on scientific evaluation, professional practices, and good governance.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, in a statement today, the NSI acknowledged the views expressed by the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation (MWF) regarding the management of supplements and sports science support. It emphasized that, as an institution responsible for providing sports science, medical, and technology services to national athletes, every decision made is based on evidence and aligned with recognized professional standards and practices.
"The NSI remains committed to carrying out these responsibilities with integrity, transparency, and an evidence-based approach, while prioritizing the interests and safety of athletes in every decision made," it said in the statement.
It added that the NSI continuously adopts an approach of engagement and maintains close cooperation with national sports associations, coaching teams, and all stakeholders to ensure athlete performance support systems continue to be strengthened. The NSI said any views or feedback received will continue to be reviewed constructively as part of ongoing improvement efforts.
The statement further noted that athletes' success is the result of collective efforts by all parties, and that strategic relationships between the National Sports Council (NSC), Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS), national sports associations, and all stakeholders must continue to be strengthened.
The NSI also congratulated MWF, the weightlifters, coaches, and officials on their success in securing three gold medals at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. "With several events still remaining at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the NSI will continue to provide full support to all national athletes so that they can perform at their best in achieving the stipulated targets," it added.
