Northport Announces Leadership Appointments, Including Fakhrul Azhar as CEO.


KUALA LUMPUR: Northport (Malaysia) Bhd has announced the appointment of three senior leaders, including Fakhrul Azhar Tajudin as its new chief executive officer (CEO), effective December 1, 2024. He succeeds Datuk Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, who will take on the role of MMC Port Holdings Sdn Bhd’s CEO, also effective December 1, 2024, the company said in a statement today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fakhrul Azhar, who previously served as Northport’s general manager of the terminal operations division, brings 25 years of extensive experience in the port and logistics industry. His appointment is part of a strategic move to ensure continued growth and leadership in the sector.

Northport also announced G. Ulaganathan as its chief operating officer (COO), effective December 1, 2024. With a distinguished career spanning 28 years in the port and logistics industry, Ulaganathan will oversee Northport’s terminal operations, including container, conventional cargo, logistics, marine services, and the commercial d
ivision. His wealth of experience is expected to be instrumental in driving operational excellence across these critical areas.

Meanwhile, Datuk Azman Shah, with more than 30 years of experience, including investment analysis, corporate finance, corporate strategy, and business development, has been a key figure in port management. Appointed as CEO of Northport in 2016, he holds several directorships and a chairmanship such as chairman of Port Klang Cruise Terminal Sdn Bhd, director of Klang Port Management Sdn Bhd, and director of Northport Distripark Sdn Bhd. Northport highlighted that his proven leadership abilities and strategic vision are poised to maximize shareholder value, ensure sustainable growth, and position their port businesses to achieve new heights and deliver exceptional value to stakeholders.
