Noraini Ahmad to Lead Mission to India to Boost Palm Oil Trade

Mumbai:Kuala Lumpur Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad, will head an official mission to India from September 27 to October 1, 2026, aiming to enhance Malaysia's relationship with the Indian market.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) announced that the mission will seek to expand commercial cooperation and promote sustainable palm oil and value-added products.

Belvinder Kaur Sron, MPOC's CEO, emphasized India's central role in the Malaysian palm oil industry's strategy for long-term market development. Malaysian palm oil exports to India increased by 40.4% to 2.26 million tonnes in the first eight months of 2026, with Malaysia's share of India's palm oil imports rising to 39.2%.

The mission will cover Bengaluru and Mumbai, involving meetings with government representatives, leading companies, industry associations, and technology providers. In Bengaluru, Noraini is scheduled to meet Karnataka government officials and representatives from Indian food, consumer goods, and agri-technology companies.

In Mumbai, Noraini will deliver a keynote address at Globoil India 2026 on September 30, 2026, one of India's major oils and fats industry conferences. She will also meet with senior members of the Solvent Extractors' Association of India and other industry leaders to discuss market developments and opportunities for long-term cooperation.
