Nighttime Tourism Revitalizes Qi County’s Ancient Zhaoge

Qi County:The ancient capital of Zhaoge, nestled in Central China's Henan Province, is embracing a vibrant nighttime tourism scene that merges 3,000 years of history with modern entertainment, particularly during the National Day holiday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Qi County has introduced a range of nighttime cultural activities rooted in its Yin-Shang heritage. Zhaoge Old Street is hosting the "Scenes at Every Step" carnival, featuring acrobatics, traditional Chinese dance, retro band performances, and mythology-themed challenge games. Nightly performances of "Grand Shang Zhaoge" and mass parades aim to showcase the ancient capital's historical grandeur.

A highlight of the program is the water-based live performance "Meiyi Zhaoge," held nightly at the Mei River Covered Bridge. This performance uses dancers and lighting effects to bring to life Shang-era legends, such as the birth of the divine black bird and Emperor Xin's eastern campaigns.

At another historical site, Zhaixingtai, performers suspended above the ground participate in Fairy Scattering Flowers, creating a spectacle with flowing costumes, lanterns, and falling flower petals. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a concert near the river's covered bridge, featuring choral singing and instrumental performances, with opportunities for tourists to join in.

Qi County's cultural and tourism authorities have also launched free tourist shuttle buses connecting scenic spots, making it convenient for tourists to experience the unique charm of nighttime Zhaoge. This initiative is part of a broader effort to transform historical sites into engaging evening destinations, unlocking new potential for cultural tourism in this ancient capital.
