Newlywed Couple Embark on Dream Haj Journey as Their First Marital Milestone

Melaka: Less than a year into their marriage, a newlywed couple from Melaka has embarked on a journey that many Muslims dream of, not to a conventional honeymoon destination, but to the Holy Land as dhuyufurrahman, or guests of Allah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Amirah Zakirah Wan Azman, 27, and her husband, Nur Fakhri Nur Fazil, 28, have chosen to start their married life by performing the haj during the 1447H/2026M haj season. This decision sets them apart from many couples who typically plan honeymoon getaways, marking the pilgrimage as not only a spiritual journey but also a symbolic beginning of their life together.

The couple, who married in July last year, see this opportunity as a profound blessing and the most meaningful honeymoon gift they could have imagined. Wan Amirah expressed her amazement at being among the youngest newlyweds in her circle of friends to undertake this pilgrimage together. She views this journey not just as an act of worship but as the beginning of a marriage graced by Allah.

Their relationship blossomed from a friendship that began in 2020, following an introduction by a mutual friend. Wan Amirah recounted how their bond grew stronger over time, leading to an engagement in late 2024 and their wedding the following July. Shortly after their marriage, they received the joyous news of their selection to perform haj together.

Adding to the significance of their pilgrimage, Wan Amirah's two younger brothers, Wan Amirul Zulfadhli, 26, and Wan Amirul Zulkarnain, 24, join them on this spiritual journey. Wan Amirah's aspiration to visit the Holy Land dates back to her childhood when her mother initiated haj savings accounts for her and her siblings in 2009, a dream nurtured by her family's dedication and faith.

The couple's time in the Holy Land has been transformative, teaching them valuable lessons in patience, sacrifice, perseverance, and prayer. Wan Amirah hopes that this haj journey will lay a strong foundation for their marriage, fostering patience, understanding, closeness to Allah, and ultimately, blessings of righteous children.
