New Look For Two Port Dickson Jetties, Adds Value To Tourism Sector

Port dickson: The upgrade of the jetties in Kampung Telok Pelandok and Pengkalan Kempas, worth RM1 million in this district, will add value to the tourism sector in Negeri Sembilan. State Tourism, Culture and Arts Action Committee chairman Nicole Tan said this was because it would not only improve the safety and comfort of users but also support marine tourism activities and boost the local community economy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nicole Tan emphasized that the enhancements reflect the state government's commitment to strengthening tourism infrastructure, thereby increasing the attractiveness of Port Dickson as a major tourist destination in Negeri Sembilan. She mentioned that the new facilities, complemented by the existing ecosystem, including cruise ships, nighttime fireflies, and food stalls, would entertain tourists visiting the region.

She further elaborated that tourists visiting the state will have numerous new tourist locations to explore, allowing them to relax with family or friends. The Kepayang state assemblyman expressed hopes that the project, funded by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusoff's allocation, would improve public facilities and support the tourism and fishing industries of the local population.

The project to repair and upgrade the Kampung Telok Pelandok and Pengkalan Kempas Tourist jetties, each costing RM500,000, commenced on July 14, 2025, and was fully completed on November 20. The main scope of the project included site clearance, piling work, construction of the concrete structure of the jetty shed, woodwork, and roofing of the fishermen's hut, as well as finishing and painting work.

Meanwhile, resident Shapra Sulaiman, 62, stated that the new facilities at both jetties would provide comfort and convenience to fishermen, especially when going out to sea for fishing activities. Having been a fisherman for more than 30 years, Shapra noted that the improvements at the Pengkalan Kempas Jetty would undoubtedly facilitate the daily activities of fishermen while enhancing the safety of jetty users and the public.
