New Electrical Substation to Enhance Power Stability in Kampung Takis

Papar: A new electrical substation in Kampung Takis is expected to be fully operational by early next month, aiming to provide residents with a more stable electricity supply. Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali announced that the project was completed on February 26 and is currently in the phase of transferring the load from the original substation.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Papar Member of Parliament highlighted that the construction of the facility was initiated in response to complaints from residents. They reported prolonged issues with voltage drops below the nominal level of 216V, which have disrupted daily electricity usage and caused equipment damage and short circuits.

Datuk Armizan shared this information in a statement following his inspection of the project, which took place before an Iftar event at Masjid As Sobirin. He noted that Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SE) has been proactive, completing four new substation projects in the parliamentary area last year to address significant supply disruption issues.

The substations involved in this initiative are located in Kampung Beringgis, Kampung Sekayan, Kampung Kawakahan, and Kampung Sagang. Datuk Armizan encouraged residents to report any ongoing issues with power supply to SE authorities or the Papar Parliamentary Office to ensure prompt action can be taken.
