Kuala pilah: Negeri Sembilan police have increased security measures throughout the state to uphold public order and ensure citizen safety amid ongoing constitutional discussions.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad stated that the police are closely observing the developments and are committed to maintaining peace. He emphasized that public safety is a priority and urged citizens to remain calm while the situation is addressed through appropriate legal channels. His comments were made during an interaction with reporters at Masjid Diraja Tuanku Munawir, where he attended Friday prayers alongside the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, and other dignitaries.

The police chief's remarks follow a recent announcement by the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) that declared the April 19 proclamation regarding Tuanku Muhriz's position invalid, citing non-compliance with Article 10 of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan (UUTKNS) 1959. The AGC clarified that the state authorities, including the Menteri Besar and State Executive Council, lack unilateral authority to remove the Yang Dipertuan Besar or declare his position vacant.

Meanwhile, the Negeri Sembilan Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) reaffirmed that Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku remains the legitimate Yang Dipertuan Besar and continues to chair the council.
