Kuala Lampur:Negeri Sembilan: All parties involved in the administrative impasse in Negeri Sembilan should respect and refer to the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution (UUTKNS) 1959, stated Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Azalina emphasized the importance of the UUTKNS as a guiding document for the state, which practices the unique Adat Perpatih system. She highlighted that the state constitution is the main law and that it is crucial to respect both the state law and the Federal Constitution.

Azalina made these comments in response to a proposal from 10 former Malaysian Bar presidents, who urged federal intervention to resolve the constitutional dispute concerning the position of Negeri Sembilan Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. The group of lawyers expressed concerns about actions taken by the Negeri Sembilan State Executive Council, which they believe did not adhere to the UUTKNS, raising issues related to the constitutional monarchy and rule of law.

The former Malaysian Bar presidents involved include Datuk Mah Weng Kwai, Datuk Kuthubul Zaman Bukhari, Datuk Yeo Yang Poh, Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan, Ragunath Kesavan, Datuk Lim Chee Wee, Christopher Leong, Datuk George Varughese, Salim Bashir, and Karen Cheah Yee Lynn.
