National NRW Project Enhances Water Infrastructure in Sarawak

Santubong: The federal government is intensifying its efforts to reduce non-revenue water (NRW) losses through the completion and handover of the National NRW Programme (Approach 1) project at the Sungai Lumut booster pump station in Santubong. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance water supply systems with improved metering, controls, and efficient network mapping, as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the completed project represents a significant step forward in ensuring a steady water supply for both residents and the local tourism sector in Santubong. The booster station, which has a capacity of 3 million litres per day, plays a crucial role in maintaining consistent water pressure. It serves nearly 10,000 residents, delivering a robust water flow to areas such as Kampung Sungai Lumut, Kampung Buntal, Kampung Santubong, and Damai.

The project focuses on installing and replacing System Input Volume (SIV) meters and consumer meters to improve data accuracy and asset management efficiency. Additionally, a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based mapping system has been developed to support these efforts. Fadillah Yusof, who also holds the position of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, highlighted these advancements in a Facebook post, underscoring the government's commitment to enhancing water infrastructure in the region.
