Kuala lumpur: Visitors to the 2026 National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya this Monday are advised to wear N95 masks to protect themselves from the effects of the current haze. Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, who is also National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 celebrations main committee chairman, said the advice was in line with recommendations issued by the Health Ministry (MOH), particularly for high-risk individuals.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the organisers of the 2026 HKHM celebrations are also providing N95 masks to more than 10,000 participants as a precautionary measure to safeguard their health. Fahmi stated that while wearing a mask is not compulsory, individuals, especially parents with young children and those with asthma, are encouraged to wear N95 masks.

Medical teams from the Health Ministry have been stationed at strategic locations to provide prompt medical assistance to those in need. Fahmi noted that all medical bases are operating smoothly, with no reported issues.

The full dress rehearsal for the celebrations proceeded smoothly according to the organisers' plans. An increase in media practitioners, totaling 823, will cover the event, up from about 600 last year. Fahmi expressed confidence in the smooth operation of internet access this year, facilitated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission's efforts to install additional communications equipment at 102 venues.

Security measures are in place, with the Royal Malaysia Police maintaining public order, and no incidents requiring particular attention have been reported.
