Kuala terengganu: Newly appointed Terengganu FC (TFC) head coach Mohd Nafuzi Mohd Zain expressed gratitude for the opportunity to return and lead the Turtles for the forthcoming 2026/2027 season, set to commence in August.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the coach, originally from Kota Bharu, emphasized the significance of the club in his professional journey. Nafuzi shared his longstanding aspiration to return to TFC, highlighting its integral role in his career development. He stated, "I am very grateful to be back after leaving Terengganu in 2022. I have always been determined to return here (Terengganu) one day." His association with TFC spans several roles, including player, assistant coach, and head coach from mid-2019 until the 2022 season.
Nafuzi acknowledged that TFC, which is based at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA), is gearing up for a challenging Malaysia League (M-League) competition this season. Drawing from his experience as a former national Under-23 coach, he aims to leverage his time outside Terengganu to fortify the team. He conveyed appreciation towards the TFC leadership, stating, "My thanks to the chairman and board of directors of TFC for their trust. Insya-Allah, I will make full use of my experience away from the state to guide TFC to the highest level."
The coach noted changes in the current environment compared to his previous tenure but expressed confidence in his ability to adapt and succeed. He called for widespread support, including from fans, to achieve desirable outcomes for the team.
