Malaysian Pairs Advance to Semi-Finals in Girls’ and Mixed Doubles at BAJC

Yatsushiro: Malaysia's Genevie Lim-Low Zi Yu triumphed over China's Shi Si Chen-Xiang Yu Jin to secure a spot in the girls' doubles semi-finals at the Badminton Asia Junior Championships (BAJC) in Yatsushiro, Japan.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian duo clinched victory in the quarter-finals at the Yatsushiro City General Gymnasium, taking 41 minutes to defeat their Chinese counterparts 21-12, 21-16. Genevie and Zi Yu are set to face a challenging match in the semi-finals against Japan's second seeds, Aoi Banno-Yuzu Ueno.

Zi Yu will also compete in the mixed doubles semi-finals alongside her partner, Ahmad Redzuan Zulwaqqarizal Ahmad. The pair showcased resilience by coming back from a game down to overcome Indonesia's Moses Andar Simanjuntak-Reya Azzahra Yulianti with scores of 19-21, 21-15, 21-9. The second-seeded Malaysian pair will now compete against Taiwan's Lin Sheng Ming-Sun Liang Ching for a spot in the finals on Sunday.

In contrast, Malaysia's national boys' singles players Kong Wei Xiang and Tiew Wei Jie faced elimination in the quarter-finals. Wei Xiang narrowly lost 19-21, 20-22 to Indonesia's Fardhan Rainanda Joe, while Wei Jie put up a valiant fight but ultimately fell 21-16, 19-21, 21-23 to China's Hong Tian Yue.
