N9 State Election Nomination Process Underway with 464 Forms Sold: 70 Candidates Confirmed Participation

Seremban: A total of 464 nomination forms for the Negeri Sembilan state election have been sold so far, as confirmed by Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun. He noted that only 70 prospective candidates have confirmed their participation by paying the required deposits and urged others to do the same promptly to ensure a smooth nomination process.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the deadline for deposit payments is until the nomination process tomorrow. Ramlan emphasized the importance of early payments to avoid last-minute complications. He made these remarks while inspecting preparations at nomination centres for various state constituencies at the Seremban City Council (MBS) building this morning.

Ramlan assured that preparations for the nomination process involving the 36 state constituencies in Negeri Sembilan are proceeding smoothly and have been fully completed ahead of nomination day. He also mentioned that full rehearsal sessions were conducted at all nomination centres to ensure a seamless process.

Tomorrow, 761 EC officers will be deployed to oversee the nomination process at eight nomination centres located in eight parliamentary constituencies. Ramlan highlighted the centralised approach based on parliamentary constituencies, different from the recent Johor state election, to facilitate better coordination.

Addressing security concerns, Ramlan urged political parties and their supporters to avoid any acts of provocation to ensure a harmonious process. He advised prospective candidates to arrive early to prevent congestion and reminded parties to adhere to regulations to avoid election offences.

Based on the EC electoral roll updated as of June 4, 2026, 889,490 voters are eligible to vote, comprising ordinary voters, military personnel and their spouses, and police personnel as early voters. Nominations will begin at 9 am tomorrow and close an hour later, after which eligible candidates will be announced.

The EC has set August 1 as polling day, with early voting scheduled for July 28. The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 5 following the consent of the Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. In the previous state election in 2023, Pakatan Harapan secured 17 out of 36 seats, Barisan Nasional won 14, and Perikatan Nasional obtained five seats.
