Kuala lumpur: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) campaign for the Negeri Sembilan State Election is set to focus on the agenda of administrative continuity and the track record of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun. PH Communications Director Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil emphasized that the coalition aims to highlight the leadership qualities and achievements of Aminuddin's administration, which have positively impacted the state's economy since 2018.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Fahmi pointed out the notable accomplishments under Aminuddin's leadership, including increased zakat collections, a rise in state revenue, and consistent foreign investments, such as the construction of a new port. Speaking after the candidate nomination process for the Serting, Palong, Jeram Padang, and Bahau state seats at the Jempol District and Land Office, Fahmi stressed that PH will rely on this strong performance record to persuade voters of the importance of maintaining the current administration for continued economic stability and prosperity.
Fahmi also addressed PH's strategy for the four-cornered contest in the Jeram Padang state seat, stating that the PH candidate will focus on employment issues often raised by young constituents. He expressed confidence that PH's candidate, G. Manivannan, could engage with the community and offer new economic opportunities across the state. Manivannan, a lawyer and the political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is set to compete against incumbent Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir of Barisan Nasional (BN), R. Sri Sanjeevan (Bersatu), and Dayana Dal (Asli), the only Orang Asli candidate.
Fahmi urged all candidates, party machinery, and media practitioners to campaign responsibly during the two-week period and maintain harmony. He emphasized the importance of avoiding sensitive topics related to religion, race, and rulers, as well as refraining from spreading false information. As Communications Minister, Fahmi assured that he would monitor the welfare of media practitioners during the election campaign.
The nomination process for the four state seats under the Jempol parliamentary constituency concluded smoothly, with no incidents reported. Serting and Palong will witness three-cornered contests, while Bahau will feature a direct contest between PH's incumbent Teo Kok Seong of DAP and BN's Chong Fui Ming of MCA. In Serting, PH candidate Yaacob Mahmood will face incumbent Mohd Fairuz Mohd Isa of Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Bersatu's Muhammad Noraffendy Mohd Salleh. In Palong, BN incumbent Datuk Mustapha Nagoor will be challenged by PH's Muhammad Zahin Zinal Abidin and Bersatu's Rebin Birham.
The Election Commission has scheduled early voting for July 28, with the polling day set for August 1 in the Negeri Sembilan state election.
