MYNIC Draws Up Initiatives To Expand .MY Domain Usage

Kuala Lumpur: MYNIC Bhd (MYNIC), an agency under the Digital Ministry, is formulating more initiatives and programmes to further expand the use of the .MY domain both locally and internationally. Minister Gobind Singh Deo mentioned that this move aligns with the government’s strategy to position Malaysia as a leading digital hub in the region while enhancing the nation’s digital economy.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, digitalisation is viewed not only as a technological advancement but also as a means to create economic opportunities, boost entrepreneurial competitiveness, and ensure online user security. Gobind emphasized that adopting the .MY domain is pivotal in establishing a robust online brand and business presence. A unique domain name with a national identity can significantly bolster local companies’ digital presence and customer trust in their products and services.

The text of Gobind’s speech was delivered by the ministry’s secretary-general Fabian Bigar at the RevUp and Register 2024 Campaign prize presentation ceremony. Gobind stressed the importance of MYNIC’s active role in offering innovative digital solutions and increasing awareness about digital transformation’s significance among Malaysians.
