MyIMMs System Restored After Technical Disruption, No Cyber Attack Involved

Kuala lumpur: The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) has confirmed that the temporary disruption affecting the Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs) was due to an internal technical issue and not a cybersecurity incident. The disruption impacted inspection and processing operations at several entry points in the country for about three hours and 45 minutes before the system was fully restored.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, KDN stated that the Immigration Department (JIM), along with the relevant technical team, responded swiftly once the issue was identified, and the system was successfully restored within 45 minutes of commencing restoration efforts. KDN assured that there were no data leaks, loss, or damage, and all information stored in the system remains secure.

The ministry highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring and improvements for critical systems that handle high transaction volumes to ensure they remain stable and resilient. KDN also mentioned that the process of upgrading the MyIMMs system to MyNIISe is underway, aiming to enhance capacity, capability, and quality of service delivery, with disruptions to existing operations being considered in the transition.

Additionally, KDN outlined measures being taken by JIM to strengthen the system, including increasing storage capacity and system infrastructure, enhancing real-time monitoring, improving the recovery plan for disruptions, and expediting the MyIMMs upgrade project. These efforts are aimed at increasing the system's resilience and reliability in the future.

In conclusion, KDN expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused during the disruption and thanked users for their patience and cooperation.
