Eugene: National sprinter Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi helped Auburn University's quartet set a new NCAA collegiate record in the men's 4x100m relay at the NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, United States on Wednesday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Auburn quartet, comprising Muhammad Azeem alongside Kayinsola Ajayi, Austin Kresley, and Tyler Davis, clocked 37.75 seconds in the semi-finals, breaking the previous collegiate record of 37.90 seconds set by Louisiana State University (LSU) in May 2023.

The result secured Auburn a place in the final. Azeem was assigned the starting leg, before strong performances from his teammates ensured the team finished with a new NCAA record time.

Apart from Auburn, several other top teams also qualified for the men's 4x100m final. The University of Arkansas posted 38.32 seconds, followed by the University of Houston (38.34 seconds), LSU (38.40 seconds), the University of Tennessee (38.47 seconds), North Carolina A and T State University (38.53 seconds), the University of Oregon (38.54 seconds), Ohio State University (38.64 seconds), and Mississippi State University (38.73 seconds).
