MPRC Calls For OGSE Industry To Harness Expertise For Future Market Opportunities

Kuala lumpur: Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) has called on the country’s oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) players to turn their proven expertise into future advantage. President and chief executive officer Mohd Yazid Ja’afar emphasized the strength of Malaysia’s OGSE ecosystem, citing decades of deepwater expertise, world-class engineering, and a commitment to strong local content.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohd Yazid spoke during a special address at the opening of the three-day Oil and Gas Asia (OGA) 2025. He highlighted Malaysia’s credibility on the world stage and urged OGSE companies to prepare for future market opportunities in low-carbon technologies, digital solutions, and sustainable services. He pointed out that MPRC is guiding companies into areas such as carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), and hybrid hydro floating solar, aligning with the National Energy Transition Roadmap’s (NETR) flagship projects.

Mohd Yazid also called on investors and international partners to leverage Malaysia’s position as a gateway to ASEAN. He encouraged them to engage with Malaysian firms, explore joint ventures, and recognize projects where Malaysian expertise can contribute to success. He stressed the importance of collaboration among government, industry, and financiers to accelerate transitions and enhance returns.

Furthermore, Mohd Yazid noted MPRC’s readiness to bridge the government and private sector, aligning with the OGSE Blueprint Mid-Term Review launched earlier this year. This review positions the industry to contribute significantly to the NETR, particularly in projects like CCUS and hybrid hydro-floating solar.

Organised by Informa Markets Malaysia, OGA 2025 marks its 21st edition, attracting industry leaders and professionals eager to explore new opportunities in the region’s dynamic energy landscape. Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the event operates under the theme ‘Powering Progress, Shaping Tomorrow’, reflecting the region’s focus on economic integration with energy as a cornerstone under Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship this year.
