Kuala lumpur: The reciprocal trade agreement signed with the United States today will not affect Malaysia’s national sovereignty. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Aziz reiterated that, on the contrary, Malaysia also gains better market access than previously agreed.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tengku Zafrul emphasized that the agreement respects both national sovereignty, assuring that Malaysia would not sign any deal that compromises its sovereignty. He highlighted that the United States has offered better and secured market access compared with earlier commitments.
Tengku Zafrul expressed satisfaction with the trade deal clinched with the US, stating that it ensures a more open trading environment. This, he said, would enhance investor confidence in Malaysia.
He further noted that, based on this agreement, American firms would be more inclined to expand their operations in Malaysia, reflecting the positive outlook for bilateral trade relations.
