MPHTJ Intensifies Beautification Along Ayer Keroh Highway for Visit Melaka Year 2.0

Melaka: The Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) will ramp up beautification efforts along the Ayer Keroh Highway, a key entry point into Melaka, as part of Visit Melaka Year 2.0 (TMM2.0).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, MPHTJ president Datuk Sapiah Haron announced that landscaping and street lighting along the highway will be upgraded next year to attract more tourists and visitors. This initiative aligns with the state government's goal of increasing tourism to areas under the council's jurisdiction. Sapiah made these remarks during the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council Appreciation Awards Ceremony 2025, where notable figures such as Melaka Housing, Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee deputy chairman Datuk Zulkiflee Mohd Zin were present.

During the event, Bernama's Melaka Bureau was honored with the Best Media Partnership Award 2025, which was presented by Zulkiflee to Bernama Melaka bureau chief Mohd Fakri Awang Lah.

In addition to the beautification efforts, Sapiah stated that the council intends to compete for the Most Sustainable City Award at the national-level World Town Planning Day next year. Winning this award would enhance the council's reputation, as it is considered the most prestigious accolade at the local authority level and includes various categories, such as the Happiest City Award.

The state government plans to officially launch TMM2.0 on December 31, following the extension of TMM2024 until 2026.
