Kuala lumpur: About 3,000 Malaysians from various backgrounds are expected to attend the launch of the 2026 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang (MPBKKJG 2026) Campaign at 10 am tomorrow at Dewan Sri Perdana, Sultan Azlan Shah, Ministry of Health Training Institute (ILKKM SAS) Tanjung Rambutan, near here. The launch ceremony for the 2026 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM 2026) celebrations will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who will deliver the launch address.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, as a symbolic gesture, Anwar will hand over the Jalur Gemilang to a nine-member Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) team for the raising of a 6x12-foot flag, which will be accompanied by the national anthem Negaraku and the recitation of the Rukun Negara pledge. The flag-raising ceremony returns this year after being left out of the launch programme for two years due to venue constraints.
The HKHM2026 theme song, performed by a renowned local singer who is also its composer, will also be launched before the ceremony. The patriotic atmosphere will be further enhanced by a special medley of patriotic songs performed by the ILKKM choir, comprising about 200 trainees. Also present will be Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil and Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.
This year, MPBKKJG 2026 will adopt a different approach, with a modest and closed-door concept. However, the public can watch the ceremony live via Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) social media platforms, as well as the Facebook Live pages of Merdeka360, the Communications Ministry, and the Information Department (JAPEN).
Earlier in the morning, the Patriot Merdeka Run will be held, with the flag-off expected to be performed by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah. The run is expected to attract about 2,000 participants. Various programmes will be held throughout the National Month celebrations, including interactive community programmes under the 1Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) campaign involving nine clusters - industry, education, security, health, government agencies, higher education, community, as well as two new clusters involving places of worship and sports.
Other programmes include Kembara Bahasa Hari Kebangsaan and RIUH Merdeka under the Kira Detik programme leading up to the National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on Aug 31. The national-level Malaysia Day celebration will be held in Sarawak on Sept 16.
Earlier, Fahmi said the theme 'Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati' was chosen for this year's HKHM2026 celebration, while the Malaysia MADANI logo would remain as the official celebration logo until next year.
