Kuala lumpur: The 30 per cent discount under the MADANI30 promotional code for Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) Electric Train Service (ETS) and Ekspres Rakyat Timuran (ERT) services has been extended until May 14. The Ministry of Transport (MOT) announced the extension following a positive public response, indicating a shift towards more affordable and convenient rail transport.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the initiative offers 1.2 million seats for the travel period from May to October 2026, encouraging the public to plan their journeys at more reasonable fares. The MOT urged travelers to seize this opportunity by planning their trips in advance and utilizing KTMB services to their desired destinations.

The discount applies to adult tickets across all ETS sectors and ERT services on the JB Sentral-Tumpat-JB Sentral route, valid for travel up to October 14. It is available from Mondays to Thursdays, excluding school and public holidays.

MOT stated that this initiative is part of the government's efforts to promote the 'road to rail' agenda, transitioning from road to rail for a more sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly transport system. Rail transport offers comfort and safety, contributing to environmental sustainability and reduced traffic congestion.

This approach aligns with the MADANI Government's aspirations to reduce road congestion, lower the carbon footprint, and improve the quality of life through a more integrated public transport system.
