MOSTI, PCCCI Collaborate To Build Innovative Ecosystem For SMEs And Startups

Ipoh: The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) will collaborate with the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCCI) to build an innovative ecosystem aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups. Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang emphasized the necessity for businesses to adapt amid global uncertainties and rapid technological advances.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Chang highlighted the pivotal role of PCCCI in this initiative, noting that its long-standing mission has been to unite the state's business community. Speaking at the Chinese New Year open house organized by PCCCI, he described the chamber as a crucial bridge between the government and Chinese businesses, ensuring that SMEs have a voice. Regardless of which coalition is in power, PCCCI remains impartial in conveying the industry's views to the government.

The event also saw the presence of State Housing and Local Government committee chairman Sandrea Ng Shy Ching and PCCCI president Datuk Liew Chee Ming. Liew addressed the evolving global economy, which is entering the era of artificial intelligence (AI). He emphasized that AI is no longer confined to large corporations and multinational companies, and it will reshape production, management, marketing, and service models.

Liew advocated for government support in helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) adopt AI technologies. He highlighted the importance of providing robust incentives and support packages to drive AI-driven transformation, which would enhance overall competitiveness and ensure Malaysian enterprises are not left behind in technological advancement.

He reiterated that MSMEs are the backbone of the national economy, driving domestic demand and providing significant employment opportunities. Liew expressed hope that the government will continue to strengthen support across financing, technology, training, and market expansion to enable MSMEs to grow steadily and sustainably.
