Negeri sembilan: Negeri Sembilan Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan is hopeful that voter turnout in the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election will reach between 70 and 75 per cent. Mohamad, who is also the Foreign Minister and BN candidate for the Rantau state seat, said such a turnout would be considered encouraging based on past election trends, while noting that many registered voters no longer reside in their constituencies.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Mohamad expressed that achieving a voter turnout of between 70 and 75 per cent in Rantau and across Negeri Sembilan would reflect the usual turnout rate in elections. He noted that many registered voters have relocated without updating their voting addresses and mentioned retired military and police personnel who have moved elsewhere, making them difficult to trace.

Mohamad cast his ballot at SJKC Chung Hua in Rantau, accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Raja Salbiah Tengku Nujumudin, and their four children. He urged voters to cast their ballots early due to the forecast for afternoon rain, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the voting process proceeds smoothly.

A total of 859,760 registered voters, including 7,391 postal voters, are eligible to vote in today's state election. The Election Commission (EC) is targeting a voter turnout of between 72 and 75 per cent, with results expected to begin coming in as early as 10 pm and the full outcome anticipated before midnight.

Meanwhile, in Seremban, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke expressed hope that voter turnout in the state election would surpass the 75 per cent target. Loke, the PH candidate for the Chennah state seat, highlighted the importance of a high turnout to ensure that the results genuinely reflect the will of the majority. He mentioned that several constituencies have recorded higher voter turnout than during the previous election, viewing this trend as an encouraging sign.
